Awesome!!!! I'm curious what they are eating. If you're gutting and eating them what's in their bellies. If they are sucking up spawn from other prized sport fish I will consider eating them myself! They are big majestic beasts that many in other parts of the world would love to catch. Way to bow fish!

Weird. They're feeding like crazy in the canal in my backyard. Was worried they were suckin' up future babies. Thanks for the reply! I will let them be for now, or catch and release.

Looks like fun and a challenging way to switch it up from reg pole fishing. Couldn't ask for a better pose from the pooch in the 3rd pic, he's lovin it

It was my pleasure! Bow fishing carp looks like a ton of fun. I just hope the removal of a few of them is beneficial to the environment. There seems to be no shortage of them as they were here again in strong numbers.

[font face="comic I found a recipe that may help with all the carp waiting to be caught lol
“…pond or lake carps always stink of the slime, and in order to remove it, one must let it swallow a glass of vinegar, this will make the carp appear to sweat, and this should be removed from the fish by scraping it off with a knife a couple of times. The carp tastes better if it gets marinated before frying…” culture.pl/en/work/polish-food-101-carp But I remember the best carp I ever ate was prepared by a lady that sliced it and baked it with fresh garlic until the outside was crisp. I don't know the whole recipe but it was always the same and always very good. She had probably marinated it to lose that bottom taste. ..sans ms"] [/font]

Thanks for posting! I'm planning to get out bowfishing for carp this year... it's been a couple of years since I last went out. I'll be going out in my kayak.

Yeah, yeah... Like the recipe that says, "Cook carp on top of a cedar plank on BBQ. Once done, throw away carp and eat plank..." ;-) Actually, carp are quite tasty. There is just a social stigma against them in North America... people should get over it. Carp were brought over and introduced as a hardy food fish. They are considered a prize game fish in Europe, and I can understand why... I've really enjoyed fishing for them over the past few years. They are no more "bottom feeders" than other fish. I've seen trout with their heads stuck in the mud, eating maggots (likely crane fly larvae) out of the dirt. At the Toronto Zoo yesterday, I saw lots of carp feeding off the surface... made me wish I brought my fly rod and some dry flies! When my grandmother was growing up in New Brunswick, she was embarrassed she had to take lobster sandwiches to school for lunch.. in those days, lobsters were considered trash, only good for fertilizer. Today, they are considered a delicacy. Who knows... maybe it will be the same for carp. [font face="comic I found a recipe that may help with all the carp waiting to be caught lol

Man that looks awesome. What are the regulations with using a boat/motor in ontario. Thinking about getting a setup. Cabelas has a muzzy recurve 40lb draw bowfishing kit 199$

You are allowed to use a motor while bowfishing, unlike hunting.
