The bite was a bit slower on Saturday but about 5 were still landed. The kids have great time fighting those monsters.

Yesterday we chummed at noon again and by 7:00 p.m. we hooked 11 and landed 8 of them, the biggest was 32" and 24" girth. Both days they turned on huge at about 5:00 p.m. including a double header. We had a slow start today and just going to chum now. I will give you an update later today or tomorrow. Sounds like you are nailing em every time you try. Awesome! Is that here on cooks?

Haven't had much of a chance to get on the local water at night lately. Tonight the temps were dropping fast. Carp were active. Moving fast. Feeding hard and also extremely skittish. I would have to assume these are their preferred temps for fall bulk up. Landed 3/4 tonight. This gal was 22.39lbs. Thanks to Mrs. Casacrow for getting outta bed and walking down to the beach to take pics for me.

No its not at Cooks Bay. We stay at Ridgeview cottages on Rice Lake. I soaked and boiled 10 pounds of dry field corn every day We would chum around noon start fishing shortly after that. While the kids waited their turn to fight one. I had an ice fishing rod set up with a mimi hook so the smallest fish had big trouble stealing 1/2 " worm. They love it , catch fish constantly until they get to fight a monster. The biggest we caught was 34" long and I think 24" girth. We dint weigh them though.

Here is one we got from scugog a few years back. Right off the dock of a cottage we stayed at. Used corn. Real fun fish.

When I first started carp fishing, I tried using circle hooks, but I've since switched to specialized carp hooks on a hair rig (very easy to tie yourself), but any wide gap hooks will work... I think they provide more effective hook ups. For weights, I use 2oz or 2.5oz weights. The idea of the weight is to startle the carp when it picks up the bait into "bolting" (that's why it's called a "bolt rig"), and the carp will hook itself. The only problem with this technique, is if you don't have a baitrunner reel, make sure you set the drag really light, or hold on tight, because a bolting carp will take your rod into the drink when they pick up your bait! I've had this happen to me... once! LOL... I've since started using Okuma Baitfeeder reels (lately, I've been using Abu Garcia bait casters with a bait clicker). With these reels, you can put down your rod, and not worry about losing it to a fish. I match the size of the hook to the bait. Usually size 6 hooks for corn, and size 4 or 2 for boilies. The bait that works best for me is boiled field corn. I get a 50lb bag of dry field corn at TSC. I mix 1 part dry corn to 2 parts water, and cook for about 20 minutes in a pressure cooker. You can use the boiled corn for hook bait as well as chum. To chum an area, throw out a few handfuls of corn in the area you are going to fish, and then throw out your rig to the same spot. If carp are in the area, you should get a hookup fairly fast. I also use line on the heavy side... 20 lb braid, or 25 lb mono. Carp will break you off on lighter line because once hooked, they head for cover. Braid makes the best hair rigs, as they are very flexible, and the carp don't seem to notice it. Carp fishing is a blast, and I rarely have any competition!

Been out for carp lately? Tried a couple nights now and haven't had any action from carp. Caught lots of rock bass on topwater tho, they love that jitterbug!

If u go out in the fall might wanna try mussel flavour boilies. What i've noticed once september comes around i've had much better resultz with it. Seems they're going crazy on the zebra mussels to fatten up for the winter. When u catch them try looking at their lips. All cut up from crushing the mussels. Give it a shot. Might change your luck.

Lol mussel flavoured boilies!! Finding carp gear has not been easy so far, couldn't even get a baiting needle from bass pro! Ill keep my eyes open for something like that. Will you see them breaching the surface or something if they are around? I didnt see anything when i was out, not sure if i was in the wrong place or what. (tried out of Belle Ewart last night)

Not as much in the fall. That's a summer thing from my experience. And they tend to move quite a lot more in the fall in search of food. For carp gear try "angling specialties" at hwy7 and keele or canadiancarpclubshop.ca/shop if you like more variety. And Sail tends to have a greater variety of carp gear than bass pro. Upstairs besides the fly fishing gear.
