CAUTION!!! The ice at the end of Glenwoods is new. Was there about an hour ago and you can tell where the open water was a couple of days ago. It will DEFINITELY not hold any machines. Even the locals have not been on it since it all broke up. If you are going to walk, follow the footprints that are already there. Even that is on your own discretion... If you are bringing any toys or want to walk out from a safer spot, there is a park a couple of streets south. That's what I'll be using tomorrow with my 4 wheeler. And PLEASE! Don't block the machine access which is between the last two bolders on the left of the parking lot. Tight lines everyone! XF Thanks for the info xfisher. We go on at Rayners Park. Do you know if there are any issues with that access? Thanks

XF Thx for all your time and effort on the ice reports but are we not asking for a disaster with this 1? This board is to keep the average Joe safe out there. If a not to smart average Joe reads this and goes out on a machine there is a good chance they will be going through!!! It was open water 2 days ago so take your machines out somewhere else nearby?

Read more: cooksbayfishingboard.com/thread/11366/2019-2020-ice-reports? I already mentioned to use the park just South for machines. XF

Suggesting to the average Joe it's OK to take a machine out on the lake 350 FEET away from where it was open water 48 hours earlier is a recipe for disaster!!! You are giving very dangerous advice to the average joe. The average Joe should not be on the ice at all until the hut renters put their huts out let alone driving on the ice a football field away from where there was recently open water.!!!

I think you misunderstood bud the lake down here has been frozen for some time now. It was only about 10 feet that was open a few days ago at the end of Glenwoods when a bike broke the ice after the rain we had. If you read up it will make sense... XF

So let me get this straight. After people like you go out on machines and one of you brake through the ice it will make sense to me that it is OK to try again 2 days later 350 feet away. What makes sense to me after reading all YOUR reports is the ice IS NOT READY FOR MACHINES !!!

Where did the 350 feet come from? I never posted recently that the bay was open 350 out in any of the recent posts. And yes, there will always be someone that will try to get on only to find out that the ice at the shoreline in not good enough following a heavy rainfall.
PEOPLE LIKE ME? It's very assuming of you to think that everyone with a 4 wheeler or a snowmobile acts the same way...
I also did post that it is safe to go out up to the huts and I stand by that.
It's good to keep people honest... However, questions are more favorable than statements/accusations (unless I misread your posts).
So, to close this off. YES, 350 feet out (approximately up to the huts) IS SAFE for walking and machines!

You are questioning why 350 feet would make a difference. At the end of Glenwoods there is running water. I disagreeumption is it's to drain the ditches from rain or melting snow water. Mix that with the salt off the roads and that's why the access from Glenwoods has determined that fast. And to Donny's point, the rising lake added to that. All the locals use the park to access the bay. You can see the tracks going out. Hope that helps. XF

Has anyone gone out from Roaches Point? Would love to hear how the ice is progressing over some deeper water.
Thanks in advance!

I ventured out this evening from Glenwoods to see how things are. Going out with a buddy tomorrow so wanted to make sure we can safely get on the Bay.
We'll... The ice at the end of Glenwoods will hold your toys. Actually, the access looks better than before the thaw.
So GREEN light going out of Glenwoods (with toys)!
On another note, rode North-West towards beeper water. Maybe a mile out, I came to a pressure crack that seems it goes from Keswick to Gilford. Without knowing how recent it opened up and only snowmobile tracks crossing it, I didn't take a chance going crossing it.
Prior to the pressure crack, there is around 8 inches of black ice (at least where I measured which is North-West of the huts out there.
Still plenty of snow on the bay with snowdrift spots. I had to go into 4 wheel drive once to make it through. Walking must be harder, but there were a few people that have walked out today.
Kicked a hole open and grabbed a rod just to have say that I went fishing today lol . Sat on my UTV and fished for about 20 minutes to 1/2 hour. 6 perch (no Jumbo's).
It was nice to be out!
Tight lines.
