Hi I have a Dewalt 18v 1.2 a/h drill states about 500in/lb would that drill be good enough I have 2 batteries. Which augers are good other than the nils and the k-drill. I heard that the chipper blades work best for drill setups because they save battery and drill easier.
Thanks

I used my dewalt with my 8 inch Maura auger. It ran good. Only problem the battery dies fast in the cold. Years ago i bought a special holder for my auger for the drill so that you wont loose your bit down the hole. It saved me from loosing the auger down the hole few times due to chuck not holding too well in the cold.

I bought eskimo M51 power auger 10 inch. I think worth every penny i spent. Last year used it every weekend started everytime i wantes to use it. And only burned just over 1 tank of gas all season. And i would drill 20 to 30 holes at a time.

Your tourque will be a bit light to turn the K-drill as per their recommendations on their site. Not sure on the Nils but anything bigger than 6" might be a chore.
You might be happy turning a 5" or 6" auger with it though. (And could just do side by side holes if you needed a large hole for the monsters).
You can turn any make of (hand) auger with a drill as long as you have an adapter, but the larger auger size the more tourque you will need from your drill.
Larger capacity batteries will allow for more holes to be drilled in a day.
If you're OK with a 5" or 6" hole, the HT Nero gets great reviews and come with a kit (extension plus handle) to use a drill with

Get gas or propane. Im not sure how the battery ion augers behave in the cold. Though they can be a bit pricey but i think it's the only way to go.

i recently purchased the drill adapter off of amazon, it fits a 3/8 drill and up, it has a 7 inch plastic plate that prevents the auger from falling through hole if it comes undone from drill chuck, i used it the other day with an 18volt dewalt and i punched 15 holes through 6 inches of ice with ease, i recommend putting a handle on the drill so you can use two hands it was $25 i wish i got one years ago,, i will use a 20 volt dewalt eventually for those thicker holes..hope this helps..

I payed almost 700 for my 10 inch eskimo 2 years ago. It runs like a charm. The new jiffy augers from new gen are not built like they used to be. The motor parts are plastic or cheap metal.

i recommend getting auger with 10 inch auger blade for deep water if you have 8 inch hand auger already. i use my 8 inch in early ice season and the 10 inch when i can go deep water. it helps having extra room in landing white fish and lake trout.
