Lets have a look at Gilford back in the day . we have some history here , lets enjoy it.. SS #16 Gilford Public School. Built in 1895 If you recognize this old school house is becouse its still here . right beside the Gilford General Store , have look next time your in town . Ball games were always popular at the Gilford School

Gilford had its very own train station. The Gilford station. Now in the Simcoe County Museum, once served the travelers to Gilford. Gilford Train Station after a hail storm on July 21, 1915. The station has since been removed and is now on display at the Simcoe County Museum.

That first Gilford General Store . Leonard Bell in front of Gilford Store and Post Office. The store is located on the corner of Gilford Rd. and Bell's Lane. Bell's Lane was known as Front Street prior to 1991. Reading the paper after their retirement. James Andrew Blain and Helen (Maconchy) were proprietors of the Gilford store from 1885-1919. They purchased the store from Thomas Maconchy.

Train wreck on the grand Trunk railway between Bradford and Gilford 1908, a result of making up time. Train derailed near Gilford in 1917.

The Lake Simcoe Ice Company was renowned for its purity. shipped to Toronto ,loaded at the Gilford Train Station

On a side not in this video might be one of the oldest homesteads in Innisfil , it must be on the towns historical preservation list but were not sure .

Good thread Peter . I'm racking my brain though why the square notch outs on the fence boards in the first pic . ? Wind maybe ?. I don't recall seeing something like that before .

TD If you look closer at the picture you can clearly see that the "square notches" you are looking at are not notches at all. There is clearly a play on shadows on the fence posts behind the fence boards. A good example of optical illusion.
