I have used those twice in the past and both times the worms were almost dead.
That was a few years back, hopefully it has improved.

I've always had good luck with those machines. Definitely not my first choice but when there are no other options it's a great place to go!!!

I have used those twice in the past and both times the worms were almost dead. My experience exactly. Also machines that eat the money with no reasonable chance of a refund.

I prefer to open the styrofoam container to see how big n alive they are but I like the idea cuz if in a situation where nothing else was available atleast u would have something "classified" as live bait but depending on how long it's been in the machine...

The results of the worms in a can are inconclusive . As this could be an isolated incident , an email is on its way to the owner of the vending machine asking for a refund . will try again soon .

Gentlemen, I think the whole point here can be stated in one word: convenience. Yes, you might occasionally lose some coins in one, and yes, you might every so often get worms that seem less than desirable. But when you're out late at night or early in the morning, and the bait shop is closed, a machine is a pretty good idea.

I used to own a store and this very guy used to have a vending machine outside on our store property.
The worms were fine but not massive. I don't do a lot of worm fishing but they sufficed when I did use them. The machine graphics look identical to the one that was outside our store. If it is the same owner, he's a decent fella, short and must be getting on in age. In any case, if these machines are located on store property, chances are, they will reimburse you for your money lost or open the machine and give it to you. After store hours is a different story. We eventually got rid of the machine. Competitor came in and offered double the %. Business is business.
Worms feed on dead material like leaves, paper and other organic decaying matter. If there is dirt with compost in the can, the worms will live for a very very long time.

Might be the same fellow that emailed me back yesterday about 10 mins after my request for a refund . First thing was he apologized and told me he would leave the refund at the gas station . I told him what i really wanted to do as he can keep the money ,was an interview with the machine working , ask some questions and promote his venture . im waiting on the :)response.

Thanks Peter great video. I will admit I was kinda skeptical when I saw the whole worms in a can thing but from what I saw in the video those were some big n juicy worms. never used a machine before but now wouldn't second guess.....but when u think of it it's the same when buying a pop. You never know if your gonna get it or get what u pressed lol. Oh n ur rite those r bigger than what's in most styrofoam containers
