I think the best way to handle this is sit and wait until the next unsuspecting boat comes along that's minding its own business and gets assaulted verbally for fishing . That will be the 3rd time , as a social network will log a complaint our self's and have the issue dealt with in the way of notice to waterfront property owners and how thy could be charged with criminal harassment after being put on notice should it continue . What we don't want as fisherman is confrontation, don't go looking for it please .

Haha join the club for getting harassed out there I absolutely love when home owners come out to yell at me fishing their docks. They own the land and can't do anything at all about us floating on the water. So I kindly smile at them all the time while I cast my lure exactly where they don't want it. Next time don't out your docks in so they won't hide the fish in trying to catch so I can have dinner, problem solved lol People that live on the water are all the SAME, they are selfish and try to keep it "all" for themselves. Piss on that idea fish where the fish are plain and simple.

"What we don't want as fisherman is confrontation, don't go looking for it please." Plundy, I think you are doing quite opposite, seeking for confrontation. I understand your momentous triumph of showing waterfront owners they are nothing, but put yourself into their shooes. Would you want to own dock with lures, hooks and floating fishermen around it? Not fun, is it? I am not defending waterfront owners - they are often mean, angry and plain wrong while complaining. However, if you can avoid confrontation, I would suggest avoiding it as Peter asked for. Why to make foes where don't you have to? Lake Simcoe is huge and Cooks Bay is large enough for us all. South part is full of pike, especially in the morning, there are bass pockets everywhere. You are allowed, but don't have to make those folks angry. You could ask if he does not mind you to fish around his dock and if he does, you could go away. Good chances, though, that some of them do not object you fishing around their docks and instead of evil smile, you could share nice conversation. Just wait a minute Plundy.I live on the waterfront here on Rice lake and to say we are all selfish and want to keep it all to our selves is BS!!!!!!!!! Just last week I was working on my deck when there was a boat fishing just out from my dock. A young boy about 10yrs old casting off the front towards the dock. With wind blowing I knew it was just a matter of time he was going to get snagged on it. Sure enough he does. They bring the boat in, the young gets out onto the dock to get his lure back. Then mom loses grip of the dock and the boat starts to blow away. Dad,s trying to start it and it won,t. They grab onto another dock 3 doors down.Dad finally gets the motor started, gets half way back and it dies. drifts away again. The whole time the young lad has freed his bait and is now casting off the dock. Finally after alot of yanking ,dad gets the boat fired up and gets back to pick up his kid. The whole time I was hoping the kid would catch the biggest bass he has ever seen. What I don,t like is when people pull up to the dock, get out and come up on the lawn to have a picnic. (It has happened) I had a boat trying to beat a thunderstorm back to the launch pull up, get out and hide under a tree. I invited them in to stay dry and safe until it past. So to say we are ALL selfish and want it all is just plain stupid. So please if you are fishing Rice and you need to take cover from a thunderstorm, come to my dock and introduce yourself as Plundy and I'll tell you to BITE ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well bigjig just so you know my boat is plenty fast enough to make it off the water with time to spare if it turns shitty out so I won't need your dock but I will hook the fish from your dock and take them with me. Plus majority of people that live on lake front properties have something against fisherman. And I've dealt with people far north and far south with the same bullshit. I don't care if I have a stupid smile on my face while I fish "their" docks far as I'm concerned they have their docks on "my" water so it's the same thing, I don't have to ask anyone permission for something I already have permission to do so. I don't hit or vandalize their property so just because I'm in close to their shit doesn't give them the right to give me attitude. And just so you know I would LOVE to deal with hooks and whatever else by my dock instead of people speeding down my road in Bradford where the speed limit is 40 And cars reach speeds of 60-80 all the time which makes me have to worry about my nephew getting hit, my dogs getting hit, myself getting hit trying to leave my driveway and people parking half on my lawn half off so they can go next door to the plaza. I'd would HAPPILY trade anyone of your lakefront property owners for your troubles dealin with fisherman compared to mine dealing with thousands of cars....
And I also put ALL in quotations as you can see from my earlier post so try and cry about something else lol NEXT time I'll use the word majority so you guys can't cry about it lol

Negative confrontations are one of the easiest things on earth to find and claim for your very own!! I am no professional fisherman or even close but in my entire life I have never met as many rude home and cottage owners as I have in the past 2 years with just 5 visits to Cooks Bay. I have fished Rice Lake every summer for almost 10 years and have never had a bad experience with a cottage owner when near their docks. There are a few rude fisherman that give us all bad name. There are few rude cottage owners that give them a bad name. 95% of people are good people its the other 5% that give us all a bad name!!! Idiots attract idiots!!! Most of the time if you just completely ignore them you will be fine, they want confrontation and if you ignore them, then you are no fun for them and they will sit and wait for the next potential argument.

I have a couple of these print-outs on me at all times when I'm fishing, and have them in a zip-lock sandwich bag so they won't get soaked. I keep at least two so that if the person I hand it to tears it up or throws it away, I still have another copy. Haven't had to use one yet, but I'm ready just in case:

I have fished bass tournaments for over 25 years and own a cottage in the kawarthas. People do fish our dock on occasion and I have no issues. I used to fish docks and have run into some irate cottagers. Remember this. Some folks have had hooks caught in boat canopies as well as line caught in props etc. I always fish around other peoples property carefully and with respect. They may own to the high water line but anglers should always be respectful and polite and respect the cottagers wishes. If there is someone out near their dock, then ask permission and be careful. Not everyone is going to like you fishing near there property and that's the way it is. Be polite and move on. Its not worth the confrontation and anglers and cottagers will have a better understanding overall.

I dont cast towards any docks that are occupied with people and I dont think anyone else should either. What family wants to be sitting on there dock enjoying the sun and someone comes along within 20 feet of them casting at there dock. Simcoe shore owners seem to be a bit out of control but on northern lakes I constantly see the most ignorant fishermen completely encrouching on peoples privacy. Not much you can do about Simcoe its obvious there's alot of angry waterfront owners who aren't going to change but this f--k everyone ill fish where I want attitude has to stop. There's so many places to fish we dont need to cast at someone's swimming hole. Respect and understanding breeds Respect and understanding

Saturday morning im sitting on the picnic table at the end of Gilford Rd watching a fishing boat doing a little dock flipping from inside those red makers out there , no ones around its not 7am when all of a sudden a woman comes out screaming that thy cant fish there, she pays lots of taxes she explains and was just being belligerent for no reason , this woman has no class as there was a little boy in the boat as well , i did however admire the guys for sticking up for himself and explained that she doesn't own the water . I felt for the guys fishing as no one was around , thy were not creating any problems .
Id like to apologize to the guys on behalf of the crazy woman , its an isolated incident , not all locals are like that , just a couple . sorry you had to deal with that .

My question about the red markers is this. Since they are not placed there by the MNR, they are illegal, and a navigation hazard. Why has nobody complained about this and.had them removed?
