Some people were talking about maybe getting out to pb which i believe is the east side but don't take my word for anything it's just the word on the street. Make sure to research before you go on the ice, I'm feeling just as anxious and annoyed to get out as yourself!
Good luck

I hear ya... I wanna get out this weekend as well. I hear the Kinmount region should be pretty solid this weekend. I plan on hitting a small lake near Crystal for some Walleyes. But as for pike, lakers, whities or specks... I have no idea. I still haven't caught any of those through the ice...

You could head a bit further north to Sundridge and fish for whities and lakers on lake bernard .

I had posted a report a couple days ago called " took a drive up the eastside". I am letting you know that it is not Safe at all at Port Bolster or Virginia Beach! 100% it is not safe!!!!!! Whether you seen a couple people out fishing or not yesterday, believe me when i tell u its not safe! I was just there and there was wide open water spots. Its been 2 days since, and there is no way its got safe enough since then. When i was there at Virginia Beach, the York Regional Police were also there parked letting anyone know NOT to go out! Port Bolster was the same. I know alot of you are itching to get some fishing in and wanna get out there sooooo bad, but trust me, its no where near safe yet! The entire Eastside had waves and wide open water. The only places there was a bit of packice near shore was Beaverton and Port Bolster, but 100 feet off shore we were watching segals and ducks swimming in the water with absolutly NO ICE!
You are always gonna see the odd nutcase go out to attempt to fish, even if the ice is 2 inches, but i just watched Terry Goy check the ice near Gilford road yesterday from the time it was wide open water 2 days ago and he even says, ITS NOT SAFE and is only 2 INCHES THICK! and that was at Gilford where they atleast had some ice left still by Sunday evening. The Eastside had NONE! Just wide open water like i keep saying! So i would think you'd be lucky in the past 2 days ( only 2 days) to have 1 inch of ice if that!
If i were you, id definatly STAY OFF COOKSBAY ANYWHERE!!! Unless you wanna be rescued like the last 2 groups on the weekend!
If your wanting to get out as bad as you say, your best bet is to travel more north! Haliburton area has alot better thicker ice which is atleast safe to fish on. Anywhere more north is better as they didnt have as much as a temp drop as we did down here. Yes it was still mild up there, but not +11....More like +2...and cold at night! Even the holland River that had snowmobiles on it a week ago which meant it was probably atleast 5 inches thick, has now got ripples and completly wide open water! NO ICE ANYWHERE ON IT! So if i were you, unless you wanna travel a couple hours north, id wait it off for atleast another week. Today is above 0 again at +2 and sunny.....By tonite the temps really drastically drop over night to -7 feeling -15.....and all day tomorrow is also -7 feelin -15 then -10 overnight feelin -20.......But the thing is thats 1 day!!!! Saturday is also warming up to high of +2 and sunny....
After Saturday things look to finally improve... Im talkin real winter temps finally! Sunday is -5 during day..........and -12 at night feeling like -18.......and Mondays high during the day is -11 feeling like -20, and -15 at night feeling like -25.........The coldest temps we've had yet this year and 5cm of snow...So if i were you, Id hold off until next week to be safe! Hope this long report helps
