--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Three Anglers Fined $4,100 For illegal Fishing Three Peterborough anglers have been fined a total of $4,100 for illegal fishing. Phuc Nguyen and Thoa Bui were fined $1,200 each and had their fishing licences suspended for six months. Tan-Vo Huynh was fined $1,700 and had his fishing licence suspended for six months. All of the angling equipment seized was forfeited permanently to the Crown. The court heard that Tan-Vo Huynh, Phuc Nguyen and Thoai Bui were inspected by an Ontario Provincial Police officer and a Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officer working a marine patrol on Rice Lake and the Otonabee River on May 13, 2011. The officers found the men in possession of 21 walleye prior to the season opening. Justice of the Peace Jason Mariasine heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Peterborough, on July 14, 2011. To report a natural resources violation call 1-877-TIPS-MNR (847-7667) toll-free any time, or contact your local ministry office during regular business hours. You can also call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Greed always takes over, bet they got 1 than thought well maybe the guy ''would'' get away with it. Than next thing you know another 1 an another, now they look like ''jackasses'' because now they made the poachers forum lol. Glad they got caught or they would be back at it again. On the other hand who says this was their 1st time? flip

that will teach them a lesson of a lifetime. i see people keeping all sizes of walleyes once in a while. once i saw a father son fishing at bobcaygeon and they had a cagefull of walleyes. i was stunned! the son went to the car, hid the fishes and came back to fish for more. they were so lucky that when the son was going back to the car on their way home (fishes were hidden on the car in a black garbage bag), he was checked by the CO for licence and what he caught. the CO did ask the guy what was in the garbage bag in the trunk and they guy said old shoes and stuffs. the CO didnt open the bag to see inside. i was standing right next to them and once i thought i should hand him out, then i thought its not a good karma to rat someone out. then i was thinking, it would preserve the law if i did. personal conflict.... what do you think? should i have ratted him out?

Uh yeah. Poachers are thieves and they steal our resource from you and me and all the rest of us legitimate fishers out there. They also tarnish our reputation.

Make the TIPS call. Licence Plate and what you saw, if they check it out they can nail them even if they have too many in the freezer. To many people breaking the rules and so CO, they need the help. I remember watching a bunch of boats nailing Bass out of season back before Cell phones and wishing I could do something about it besides shout nasty things from shore.

;D Sounds like they are Oriental gentlemen, surprise surprise. Hope that everybody gets the message, maybe there should be reports posted at all the boat launches showing the fines handed out to all these moronic poachers, that might just get the message to a few of them that legitimate fishermen will report them.
