just tired of people whining about "hut operators"- it happens every year. if people stop fishing up near his compound stuff like this doesnt/wont happen... - u poke the bull? -u know whatcha get... theres a whole lake out there people... my interest in this thread in the beginning was to offer up people options to what had happened... so this can be prevented in the future.. been on the defence ever since it seems, typical no minders callin you out, what else is new on this board....

I love the taste of steak......ya I know what's up!.....bandit1...you are the one that needs to stop whining about it....the operators need to show ME respect and while I am on foot or in a hut I have the right of way...from now on I will enforce it!

this is not an all hut operators thing!...just the few morons that think that the lake is theres and it's ok to endanger others!

the hut operator is lucky i wasn't the one he was transporting...no one i pay for transport better swing me within 3 feet of anything.
that move was unsafe and constitutes a threat. it was the move of a punk.

Well it sure shook me a bit. I guess next time I go out bandit I will be sure to make sure there isn't a singal hut from the operators within a thousand yards from me. Even if I don't catch anything just so this doesn't happen again. Better safe than sorry. Give your head a shake. This operator has made me mad. And he is going to know what he did he won't get away with.

pretty sure this would be dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, call OPP or MNR , repeated complaints will take care of this clown. why not use the services we pay for instead of getting all bent out of shape.

I just called the mnr to see what can be done and they r going to look into it. The guy can be charged with unsafe use of a motorized vehicle. And I had more than one witness so he could be looking at charges. Guys like this shouldn't beable to get away with this bs. And I for one won't allow him to do it to me again. That is a good way to get knocked out.

I remember a few years back being out there one weekday morning, there was little to no snow on the ice the wind was so brutal that matter what, it just came under my pop up hut and it was cold. There was like maybe 30 people fishing on the bay, so me and my partner headed out close to one of Peter's huts (the big one he has) no one was fishing it, so we used it as a wind break and made holes about 20 feet from it. Peter comes on his argo slams his helmet down and starts laying into us for making holes so close to him and that he "just moved that hut yesterday" and now he was going to have to move it again. After a very short yelling match back and forth, it became clear to Peter that we meant no ill intent and then he educated me and my partner on the effects of what we had just done. We had gotten our minnows that morning from Peter and then the discussion turned to the fishing. The point is simple, no one owns the water we need to co-exist out there, the respect needs to be a two way street. If every operator thinks that person fishing knows all of the unwritten rules then he is wrong, heck many people fishing don't know what they are doing, period. If every person fishing thinks every operator is a money hungry, jerk who thinks he owns the water, well that isn't true and my first hand experience with Peter tells me that. That is what has kept me going to Cook's for over 15yrs now.
I do agree with you guys that operator was an idiot, who should have to deal with his actions.

i totally agree with your post, not every operator is a jerk off. i have rented huts off of many different operators over the past 15 years and most of them have been great. peter being one of the best on lake simcoe. and i agree with you about fishing close to his huts. i could see if we were 20 yards from his hut drilling holes, thats the thing we weren't, we had a very good distances from any of his huts. most guys that fish simcoe hard for perch know no matter where you drill holes you will catch perch. we moved shortly after that incident to try and get out to deeper water, catching dinks isnt fun, we managed to move out pretty much half way across the bay and we caught a lot of bigger fish.

If you were inclined to do so, you could have posted his hut licence number and a few of us could teach him about "hospitality"...wink wink

the operator is fishing 0.00001 % of the lake...- you have the rest.... leave the guy alone - jeez some people. go fishin instead of typin - some cheese?- F O 60 yrds is lots of room. I have been to places that it was imposible to fish 60 yrds from someone. He could have killed someone in that hut.
