today a buddy and me decided to hit up virginia beach off of hadden road. got to the ice around 7 am and decided to drive out to fishing grounds with the truck. got to the spot and drilled our holes. we were 60 yards from any other huts, perm or portable huts. i setup the eskimo and start fishing. fish were on fire, at 7 30 am i hear a sled coming out and it sounds to be getting really close. i look out the window and i see a grey hut go by no more than 3 feet from my truck and hut. i get out to look and sure enough. 3 of my boot lengths away. size 12 boot. as i am checking that out the operator stops at the red huts and ets guys out. than look over at me and mumbles something. at this point i am seeing red. I start walking towards him to ask him if he could have some respect for fellow fishermen. he laughed and said i was on his fishing grounds were he has his huts, i should expect that. i was shocked. the guy has the entire lake to drive his sled and he decides to drive it 3 feet from my hut. I wasnt bothering anyone, i was a good distance from his huts and not in the way at all, this hut operator did this on purpose and i wasn't happy, after a few more words were exchanged he went on his way. This operator definitly put a bad taste in my mouth for operators on simcoe, he was a complete dink. totall perch caught after moving 4 times was 110. brought home about 25 for dinner. all decent perch. sorry for ranting guys just figured something has to be said, this is right and the operators shouldnt be getting away with this. no one for that matter should be doing this.

Sorry to hear that slaughter, you have the right to fish any ware on the lake you want . Nobody own the lake or can tell you were you can't fish. The hut operator just wasted his and your time for nothing, bad karma proves nothing at all. It's a free lake bro ,have fun and enjoy fishing

I heard about this story today, some of thos operators think they own parts of the lake and it just ruins their reputation.

It's better to ignore those guys. They think part of the lake is theirs because they operate huts

guys i understand that he shouldnt have driven so close to you like that while you were fishing.. However i will say one thing., operators dont like the ice all around their huts cheese-holed... - it allows the ice to flood should it become mild - his huts can freeze in ... i guess some fisherman figure the fishin must be better by outfitters huts for some reason... actually the opposite holds true ...u ever see the crap people throw down the hole week after week??- garbage, beer bottles, etc. u are actually better off NOT fishing there in my opinion.. give the guy a break... he has to make a living too..he picked his spot-u pick yours .. let him have that confined area.. YOU also have the WHOLE lake to fish where its quiet.. and no stress.... lol. my 2 cents..

bandit1 that's complete BS. Did you miss the part about he was "60 yards from any other huts, perm or portable huts". Luckily he didn't try that with me. I may of decided to move. All around his huts and really give my auger a workout. Respect is a two way street. If your not willing to give it don't expect to get it either.

I hope you were joking RIGHT I don't like other cars on the 400 when I'm driving it causes more accidents Give me a break Your right the guy need to make a living he should start by trying a old thing called respecting other fisherman A THREE FOOT drive by come on everyone know that not right someone could step out of the hut and get hit I think you mus ta been joking I think this hut operator will not have gained any work from this....But hey it his living he can act the way he wishes BE SAFE ALL you can fish another day

I was no where near his huts. 60 yards is a good distance. and i made sure i was knowwhere near the race track he uses to get to each hut. this dick went out of his way to try and prove a point and came very close to get himself knocked out, by not only myself but my good fishing buddy. the operator i think though i was by myself when he started until my buddy stepped out. 6 ft 8 240 he kind of sht bricks i think. cuda you know who i am talking about.
Operators like this guy are the reason huts get vandalized, piss the wrong guy off and it is bound to bite you in the ass. I so badly wanted to take my gas auger and start it up and just run it beside the one hut, but 1 it wasnt the guys fault in the hut. and 2 i would be no better than the operator and what he did to me.

Hopefully his business will reflect his crappy attitude! Shows how lucky we all are to have an operator like Peter around. Thanks Peter.

the guy went wizzing by you is just a goof!!!! I also question his business ethics and putting others in harms way! Thats just plain intimadation which I have no use for! I think we should all get together and have a meet and greet there! I personally would hand him the invitation!

thanks pugman. I posted it on this sight figuring it was most appropriate. I have even had some buddies go with this operator and they said he did it to more than one guy fishing within 200 yards of his huts. that is down right ignorant and something needs to be done ice fishing outfitters red huts off of hadden road.

I'm sorry about this operater being inconsiderate , and with responce to bandit1 , what gives anyone the right to own a spot on the lake ? I belive we all pay for a fishing licence and we all have the right to fish the lake whether we have a business or not. I'm not trying to stir the pot or anything but I really hate when something is wrong and people try to justify it. If he was an honest business man , he wouldn't have been so rude and possibly dangerous !

the operator is fishing 0.00001 % of the lake...- you have the rest.... leave the guy alone - jeez some people. go fishin instead of typin - some cheese?- F O well i dont know where u are fishing but last i checked the hut operators put out more than one hut. most of these operators have a dozen or more huts out within 400 yard range. I am all for them making a living and i support some hut rental places, but when you go out of your way to be a dick and try and ruin someone elses fishing trip, luckily i wasnt stepping out of my hut when he came by. i could have been hit and seroiusly injured. that would have put a dent on our already shortened hardwater season. bandit1 its called technology, ever hurd of a blackberry, wireless internet is a great way to stay connected when out fishing. you should try it sometime. i hope one day this same thing happens to you, than you can see how it feels, just dont pregnant dog to us when it happens to ya ,

Thanks for the heads up on the red hut operator. Glad you didnt get hurt, or your hut/vehicle. Just as bad as walking to shore with my children on cooks with sleds at high speeds passing 2-3 yards in front of me.
