I'll play Spock here. Logically speaking, it is nearing the end of the season, thus in the first instance you were taken advantage of. In the second instance, more than likely what you purchased was someone else's return that was inadvertently put back on the shelves when one "associate" said to another, "What's this doing here?" Whereupon the other associate said, "Me either." Then put it back on the shelf. Later the asst manager came by looking for a unit that s/he knew was defective, and doubting his own sanity, and not wanting to look stupid in front of the hired help, said nothing to anybody. Now he's got his defective unit in his hot little hands telling everyone, "Hey, I found that screwed up unit I was looking for."
Sorry you had to go through that JM...you shouldn't have. Maybe it's an omen for you to go top shelf eh? ;D

Even though I'm currently using a Hummingbird 565, I do agree with Jigmannn, only not so passionately. I had a 535 that went on the fritz. The only place that I found that services them is in North Bay. Not wanting to go thru the hassle of S/H and repair costs, went to CT and bought a brand new one (box factory sealed). Did not work right out of the box. Took it back for an exchange, had the same thing with the second one as well. Returned it for a refund. Seeing me going thru all this, my better half goes out and gets me the 565 for Xmas. I have no problems with the unit so far, it does the job for me. I am using the 535 hard case though, I find it more protective than the soft case it came with. As far as I'm concerned, I'll use the 565 till it dies, but it would be the last Hummingbird I get (unless santa foils my plans again). John

They don't nickname them Humminbuzzard for nothing, stick with Lowrance/Eagle if you want it to work.

funny, I've had a most excellent experience with my Humminbird. I should snap a pic for you to show its condition. This sucker has been melted, dropped, kicked, fell overboard, frozen solid in a block of ice and even took a ride off the roof of my car. It looks pretty rough but works a charm. The big question here is how did LeBaron treat you? Did they refund including shipping??

no LeBaron said i would have to pay shipping to return it..... i called mastercard and they are handling the dispute... basically holding payment on my behalf,i will send it back to them C.O.D..... (such buggers)- wont shop on line there anymore thats for sure.. i dont think i should have to pay any shipping on an item that dont work. i feel im right on this......(so does mastercard) jeeesh- all this mess - all i want is a unit to fish with- lol i ended up buyin a fl-8 se / 19 degree transducer at C Tire on Mapleview in Barrie. was $379- reduced from $449 i think.. theres 1 left !!...... hope this fiasco saves a few of you some grief...

We had to edit your post because some of your language was a little strong for this family message board... The cbfb is not a fan of posts that are negative in nature as this one is. It is felt that your situation is an isolated incident and you will be compensated accordingly. HUMMINBIRD rocks....

What about my money thats tied up forever ??- why would i want another unit now in light of all these problems with their products ? humminbird rocks? I THINK NOT !

Well jigmann although I never saw your initial colourful post to comment on I do understand your frustration of not getting a working unit after two tries from two different manufacturers .
I personally have never been a humminbird fan even after trying them out but it's not because they didn't work but more so because my preference differs and yes I also tested the x67c ice machine and it worked decently too but the Marcum line did better by me .
As far as you calling anything junk I think I can take that in context and understand that this opinion is your very own experience and others may differ and your warning should be recognized as coming only from yourself for others consideration for them not to go in blind so I have no issue with you saying so . Giving a headsup if done right is a courtesy to others in my books .
