I am not sure if I am missing something here or not but I can't see why or how Peter is offended by redmandant's post. The home page on this site under the general heading states the message board is the "hub of the ice fishing world" and that it is updated every day during the hard water season. With this said it seems as though Redmandant's was asking the "hub" about the conditions because he not only didn't want to disappoint his children but was also concerned for there safety as well on "Family Day". Possibly had the daily reports been clear about the conditions he may not have made the trip and this nattering session wouldn't be taking place. Maybe by this unfortunate situation there is something we can all learn, first and foremost seeing we are all on this message board for not only the love of the sport but the information as well, so why not when posting how great our days were fishing lets add how the conditions were also. I would also hope that instead of Peter feeling offended, he would use this constructive criticism as a positive way to make an already good site even better. Maybe all it would take is a simple posting of how the ice conditions were at the end of each day because who would know better than the hut outfitter who spends his whole day on it. As for calling the local bait shops about the conditions, when I came up there Wednesday I stopped in at the corner of 89 & 11 to get some bait and while I was there I asked both how the fishing was and the ice conditions, the answer "I am not really sure about today". If this is the "Hub" and you advertise it as that than in my opinion Redmandant did nothing wrong by asking nor by expressing his opinion, just as we all have in these replies.

i agree with splitshotz, i don't see why anyone should be offended by redmandant's post at all. is this not supposed to be an information sharing site? peter shouldn't take it personally. it was a good post that said alot in a few paragraphs. don't be so defensive. i took it as such and i would have posted a report if i lived on the lake like alot of these members do. too bad that all the members who were so quick to slam redmandant weren't as quick to answer his original post. just my thoughts.

Gentleman There’s a little confusion here, I wasn’t offended at all with what red posted. It was a statement by another member that wasn’t appreciated.
Dec 01 I started doing video ice reports everyday right up until first ice. 26 days in a row and usually up on line before 10am the same day. The idea was when first ice arrived I was counting on some board members to step in like some have and take over the work load for me with reports As the hard water season progress it’s harder for me to get to the computer and update it because of the very long and hard days. Yes you’re right about the board being updated everyday during the hard water season but again I was anticipating help.
I apologize for not reporting specifically to you red and on behalf of the cbfb that let you down I’m sorry you had to drive all that way for nothing. I put this message board together to prevent exactly that.

Is this going to be harped on forever, OK. so there was rain, water on the ice BIG DEAL. Has a fisherman never had a bad day out fishing open up your eyes and look outside if it ain't raining but looks like it will then be prepared. Don't put up a thread that reads no body notified me about the conditions. Get a life child.........

I have been watching these posts. I was going to bring my children for the day, but just watched the weather network and I knew it would not be suitable for kids, so as dissapointed as they were we stayed home. (still had perch for dinner to make them feel better). In this case it was common sense not to bring them and I for one will thank everyone on the board that helps everyone else out it is appreciated by more than one for sure. I think common sense just watchiing the weather would have been sufficient. No one let anyone down here except for the original poster where he let his kids down by not checking the weather reports. (Pretty straight forward to me because as I said that is what I did)
