Well I hate to say it but I was let down by the people here. I posted last weekend that I intended to bring the children up for 'Family Day' fishing and asked here what the conditions were like. cbfb.proboards100.com/index.cgi?board=tour&action=display&thread=2213I knew alot of people would be checking in because the ice offs were just held. As of Sunday evening at 10pm there had been over 150 views but only the two responses Assuming that no news was good news I packed the kids up real early and made the 1.5hr trek to the lake only to be met by alot of water. I got to tell you it was not a whole heck of alot of fun to tell them we could not go out. But because they are little, I knew they would eventually end up falling and getting soaked. Please, please, next time if you read a post asking a question, help out. I don't want to sour kids on fishing but this certainly has left a bad taste in their mouths. Sorry for the b1tch session, but it has been bugging me... RED

sorry about your frustrations Red. When I left the ice on sunday, the snow was a little soft, but conditions were fine. I haven`t been back since. I am surprised it was so wet on Monday morning, but I guess that night was pretty mild. Still try to love us all.

Hey red...Dont get to down on the board...Sorry to hear your question went unanswered...This board has been a huge pool of info in the past. I never saw the post or I would have replied myself as I was there from Friday till Sunday. Sorry I missed the post and I too have kids. I would have gladly given you any advice i had at the time. I will look a bit closer to be sure in the future...Have a good one red..

growler was correct as you know this forum is great for info on the lake,I think there were a few posts and a video about the ice offs, also a video by one of the members about how bad it was on sunday, there is also the weather network, sorry the kids couldnt fish but next time go with a sled and pull them out you dont need to fish all day just getting them on the hard water is fun, bring a spare set of clothes and they will be fine.

You of course have found what assume means. "you make an ass u me". Next time check weather network. A temp above freezing usuallly means water on ice. WOW am i smart. Even my son had the good sense to not go with his kids, however disapointed he and they where. Don't be blaming others for your short sightedness.

Sorry you didnt have a good time but dont blame members of the board for your misfortune!!This board provides more information regarding ice conditions than any other. Disappointed?? Take responsibility your decisions. Dont know if you were at the iceoffs on Sunday?.. the weather was wicked but the kidz were out enjoying themselves regardless. Hope u'll take the kidz out again. If you want to blame somebody......Mother Nature!

I haven't seen an ice/fish report on this board in a while. A few guys posted about fish but nothing about the ice conditions. You are better off calling the local bait shops in the area for ice /fishing conditions than relying on a fishing board. I had planned on taking a 3 day weekend to finally come to Cooks Bay this weekend but the wife threw a monkey wrench into my plans.

Even my son had the good sense to not go with his kids, however disappointed he and they where. Don't be blaming others for your short sightedness. Short sightedness!?! are you kidding me? There is a reason that I come here, and usually have a excellent response. Shortsightedness would imply that I did no planning in advance of this trip. I asked ice conditions because the weather network does not show them. Temps above freezing means water on ice. I have enjoyed many a day on the hard water with little more than a t-shirt on and there was no water/slush.. Blaming the board? No I am not, just asking that if ya know or can help, reply. The only shoreline report I had was peters, of which I loaded( dial up took about 20mins) and all it showed was the shoreline busted at 89 because of some yahoos parked on the ice. ff, nats, and others. I wasn't pointing fingers, just asking for a little help. Sorry if I hurt your feelings... RED

Yeah, they're a little slow responding to info requests, but make one little complaint..

Clampit, my thoughts exactly. Fervered response of this type would have been invaluable to his first thread. I don't see where Red critized anyone individually he just noted , rightfully, that with 150 views someone may have provided a little insight as to existing ice conditions. Putting your young family together for a day on the ice next door is no easy task much less doing the same 1.5 hrs away. A simple question asked, simply answered would have been quite helpfull. He apoligized in his post for the 'b1tch session'. The attacks on his judgment are unfounded as he relied on that the 148 non responders of this group of 'providers' meant that there should be no concern. Sometimes the most usefull posts to which you can reply are the easiest ones that you may think all know the answer to, except for the guy that asked the question. Sometimes a simple yes or no can change or make someones day.

guys lets keep in mind that on that day they were calling for rain and freezing rain in all of southern ontario from winsor to kingston and as far north as muskoka, you should have seen that, come on there is no way you didn't see that coming.

This isnt the Simcoe board Clampit...sorry! No bashing here! Simply voicing my opinion on this thread and the way it was delivered...Disappointed!!!...and backing the board! This board provides plenty of info and we all look out for each other. Sorry u dont feel that way! "Well I hate to say it but I was let down by the people here." Not blaming the board?

I would have probably called a fish hut operator first thing in the morning prior to leaving, after a severe weather system pushed through overnight. Be disappointed with mother nature, not the board.

I'm just wondering, 150 hits isn't really a great amount, a good part of that number could have been lurkers or other board members like myself that could not go so we are reduced to reading the board, We read, but can not provide any help. I also wonder about the people who were there and could possibly answer, they were likely cleaning fish or eating them, and weren't even interested in the board until tomorrow maybe? I think most members that could help, would help, if they knew you asked. Just a couple of things I was wondering about.

I was on the board that day to give thanks to all involved in the fish offs and didnt give to much attention to the board after that ,I would have thought the next day would be wet if it didnt get too cold,Its a shame more posts didnt come to this members aid but these things happen.

Now that I have some time, I take full responsibility
I understand by your thread Sunday 10pm you were here on this board looking around for a report. Sunday evening after ice offs I reported how terrible the conditions where but we still got it in. That would have been an indication to you the conditions would be wet as you indicated. Perhaps you missed the thread but the fact that know one answered you directly you can attribute to it was common knowledge. I can see you’re from Brampton and I know the weather was just as bad on Sunday just as it was for ice offs here on Cook’s Bay. Respectfully I’m really not sure what you were expecting to find when you got here the next morning other then wet conditions.

You are on the ice all day on the weekends with little time to be online to post conditions. If he needs a report on the weekends then call the bait shops. I guess if he had your number he could call you while you're on the ice. You can't get more up to date ice conditions than that.
