It is sad to see that are ways with nature have finally caught up with us. Considering the amount of people that view this board, what about a on line petition to our federal politician to make them aware of the negative effects. That these shorter winter are having a negative impact on thousands of people who really on them. As you all know snow & cold are the bread & butter of many Canadians, just think of all the ski resorts that had to lay off people until the recent cold, not to add the snowmobile industry, ice fishing outfitters like Peter, & the hospitality industry that revolves around all the different winter sports & activities. What I am talking about is a way of life & leisure that will be lost possibly in a few decades if we don't start putting the brakes on pollution now.... I don't want to see ice fishing & winter sports disappear because we decided not to pressure are leaders toward the Right environmental policies... Is there a place on this site for such serious concerns?

Maybe we could start a new post that is just a collection of as many users names as possible and we could send it to the government or something and let them see that we are serious about stopping global warming becuas ewe care about our winter sports like ice fishing, snowmobiling, snowboarding, skiing or whatever it is you do.

Hey microking what you say is sadly true. I remember as a child wishing the winter would end soon as there was so much snow every year and cold as heck. Now as an adult I wish winters were like they used to be. So many people do rely on winter. Even farmers need snow for their fields. It just seems to keep getting worse and although our generation will not see the worst of this problem I wonder about the next generations. Yes the government has to do something about it (other than plowing dry roads) This does not mean they have done nothing because they have, they just need to do more.

well this board is called "walk the plank" so i guess i will, and throw in my 2 cents.pollution bad-bad bad bad-yes very bad, but i also have read about weather trends and how quick we are to blame ourselves for the weather. i too remember long cold snowy winters as a kid but some of the old cats from the thirties can also remember winters just like we are getting right now with warm temps and no snow(some were plowing their fields in late january). so not to rule out "global warming" and the damage we do to our enviroment and our responsibility to reduce pollution and clean up the messes we have made but sometimes weather trends are just that-trends -Supertramp p.s-i know you all hate me-just thought i'd stir the pot-keep smiling

Hey supertramp you are certainly correct about the weather trends. I personally think the government has to act more on pollution
