If you ask me Cook’s Bay is #1 for canoeing if you know what you’re doing. You can start off at the end of Gilford Rd drop your canoe there and hug the shore line all the way to the Holland River area. The wet land marshie area there is everything you can hope for if you’re into beautiful surrounding.
Just keep the weather in mind and all will be well.
Have fun

Things can get pretty wild out there in a canoe. Even if conditions are calm, if you go on a w/e there is a lot of boat wakes to content with. The best area for canoeing in my opinion is the marsh at the south end of Cooks. The cattails provide some shelter from the wind. The LM bass fishing can be tremedous from a canoe and you can manouver a lot easier than a power boat through the pads. You can launch from Lake drive south in Keswick (see post on free boat launch sites.) I usually go out in the evening a stay until sunset. When paddling solo I usually also use a doubleblade. Cheers, Jeff

Cheers, Jeff MAN there are times on the weekend when my 17ft deepV is being knocked around by the boat-chop. Sometimes in can drive me NUTZ! i would agree, be VERY aware of the boat traffic situation, there are FAR to many people out there in huge boats driving them like they are cars. During the week it is like a different lake.
