If you haven't noticed they've added new no parking signs throughout the town of Gilford , this can only hurt the bottom line to people that have businesses in town, whoever's running the show there now obviously has no clue

Sorry to hear that. Hoping to come up for the first time this year tomorrow (hopefully with my son if he is up to waking up early) but I’m at the tail end of recent gout issues that may prevent me from making a long walk.
Do you know if people are at least parking on the lake and if so, from what access point? That would make my walk more manageable.
Otherwise going to be a disappointing no go.
Thanks!

I used to come to gilford a couple time per month in the hard water season, buy my bait locally, buy my lunch locally. Hot chocolate from the kids on the side of the road and i don't come now due to cost and parking availability. it is really unfortunate.

Yep, I've been bypassing Gilford for a couple years because of the parking situation. Easier to go further up simcoe to accesses that allow for parking on the ice. Not sure if shoreacres rd access allows for vehicle traffic. Wow, this used to be a busy board, its dwindled down to next to nothing. Sad to see.....

Yeah parking is really rough on that side of the lake. It’s really sad to see, I haven’t touched that side in quite a few years

So here are my thoughts... Gilford is a SMALL town in the greater schema of things. They should make every effort to welcome any visitors that add to the economy.
No! Although parking tickets add to the township economy, they don't do shit for the local stores.
I'm in Keswick. So rightfully so, Keswick enforced a law that you can only park on one side of the street (close to the lake). People's driveways were blocked prior to that an emergency vehicles could not make it through!
WELCOME to lake Simcoe! Just don't piss off locals... Remember you are a visitor here!

LOL it dwindles down to near nothing because the person running it and doing all the videos moved, not because of no parking signs!!

Suck you dry lmao such a great fishery i was going to retire here stoped fishing there years ago in fact sold my house and moved south on Lake Erie bought a place by Long Point now 5 mins from water. Joined a couple fishing clubs to mingle and meet new friends, great community and met great people going on 5 years now, Peter hope your stress free now that i hear you moved. I was wondering how things were for you its been a while. I was thinking of visiting the area but now that i read there is no parking sounds like a hassle trying to find a spot for parking, I definitely will make it back for a visit but when i can ill use hot box huts, been watching there updates on F B looks like they are doing great and had good reviews from others. Wish you all the best for 2022 Peter take care.
