Hey guys. Quick question I have a 14ft aluminum with a 25hp johnson I have my battery, gas tank, and trolling motor all at the back. When out on the water it takes its time to plain out. How can i even out weight to make it plane quicker and pick up speed. Thanks in advance. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Is you motor running at optimum RPM?
With our boat heavily loaded, I had to go with less prop pitch to get the motor spinning closer to peak power.

Hey Stalker, I assume it's a tiller.....if so weight would be my guess. How is it with another body upfront? That's how you know for sure. For sure move your gas tank, anchor, etc forward if you can.....check the position of the tilt rod at the back of the motor too, mine has 5 or 6 positions and it for sure makes a difference. A prop change may work as well but the other options are free to try first.

I had that exact same thing happen to me last year at a friends cottage but it was a 12ft with a 7.5hp I think, ended up taking the trolling motor off n battery out. Just paddled. A buddy of mine extended his fuel lines allowing him to move the tank up. It's a 14ft with a 20hp Johnson. Just be carful how far u move the tank up cuz u will end up starving the ole girl out.
