I'm new to this board, been fishing Simcoe all my life. Years ago I used to hunt the Holland River as well for ducks and geese. Can someone tell me if I'm on the right track or not... As I see it, the hunting regulations are for open to the whole of Lake Simcoe. I should be able to hunt ducks or geese out of an anchored boat anywhere on the lake as long as I am at least 400 meters from shore and not shooting into the direction of the shore line (with houses) or in the direction of any other boats in the area?
There are all kinds of good spots out on the lake where the birds literally fly over you while sitting out there fishing. Thought it might be a good spot to hunt as well.
Seeing as you are a long time hunter in the area, could you lend me some advice ... I know my first visit out there will be by either York Region or MNR ... but am I hunting within the rules?

I'm sure member Flip will have the answers for you. But what I do know is you do not have to be anchored. You can drift with your motor in the water as long as there is no forward propulsion(whether gas or electric)

Yes you can hunt east side on sundays I believe Bradford allows Sunday hunting also, Therefore you can hunt over on the west side also. Maybe not on "Land" but water yes. Townships do not have control of the waterways only on land. Play safe Flip BTW You wont get out on the east side to hunt the bay anymore as it is all locked up. Ice is to thick for boats and launching. But I will not say its safe for ice fishing!!!
