I'll just start off saying I know this isn't a Georgian bay fishing board. However I'm working out of town and just got a cottage here right off the water in collingwood. I see lots of smallies but I'm trying to avoid them until opener! Has anybody fished these waters had any luck for pike or muskies? Any tips only been here one night but I haven't had any luck so far with them.

I would avoid fishing there until the season is open the water is getting warm enough for the bass to spawn, you will definitely catch these fish even if you are trying to fish for something else. You can play the ignorant card all you want( I was fishing for crappy next to this 5 pound smallies nest, and it took my bait officer. ) Remember it is illegal to catch a fish out of season and even taking a picture of the fish and releasing it, can get you a big fine. If you can see bass in the water, which on Georgian bay it is not hard due to the clarity of the water, don't fish it.

Try flatlining with a little cleo or rapala in the harbour or out front of the pretty river. Might be a little late in the spring but you never know. Used to catch rainbows there like crazy in the spring flatlining.
