Has anyone ever had a problem with your micro guides ?? Sometimes when I tie a double uni knot from my braid to my fluro it hits on my top guide I've even had it happen to the extent where it's broke my fluro 15lbs and I've just casted off my lure. Does anyone know a different knot or should I just stay away from micro guides? Also why are micro guides supposedly good?

When you say micro guides, are you talking about the ones you add on and shrink tube to your existing rod? If so, I wouldn't bother using them unless you're fishing through the ice.
My $0.02
If it's something else you're speaking of, then disregard.

Sorry, forgot to add, if it is indeed the add on tips, they're used for a light biting, or finicky fish, and generally used through the ice, while you're sitting stationary, definitely not for cast and retrieve situations.

Micro guide rods are designed to be lighter, more sensitive, and have better line management than conventional standard guide rods. They also in most cases increase casting distance and also accuracy. I totally get what your saying about the leader knot hanging up a bit in the guides, perhaps just try to get the knot as tight and low profile as possible. Micro guide rods are definitely worth it, I have noticed the difference. Perhaps try the Improved Albright knot and see if that makes a difference for you.

Yea maybe less wraps on the double uni knot I only do 3 as is tho. I haven't noticed much of a difference as far as distance wise maybe accuracy it is on my top water rod. I could always get used to just running the straight braid for top water I just like the way a short fluro leader makes my lures pop and walk

x2 on the Alberto a.k.a. Improved Albright knot. Plenty of videos around to show you how to tie it. My personal experience is when it's tied correctly, it is just about the narrowest know you can have while maintaining great knot integrity.
