Why should or shouldn't you be ice fishing if you are not going to be in close contact with other people?
Stealhead1 my belief (and only my opinion) is that as long as you go ice fishing alone or keep the recommended distance from others, you should go out and enjoy! Now finding access to the lake is another topic lol
Thoughts???

I agree whole heartedly, as long as you are fishing by yourself, or with a family member in your "bubble". If not, then one is running the risk of contributing to the problem. The Provincial rules seem a little vague on the subject of travel outside our respective municipalities. During the first lockdown, access to the Saugeen river for Steelhead for example was restricted for a while and then allowed. Not certain what Inisfill area has in mind to restrict this time. I would certainly appreciate any intel if available.

Truly makes no sense
I have access to the lake Via Family Driveway and Dock on the lake No one has to come close I can wave to them on the porch.
My Son lives with me we fish on a big lake 100 feet from anyone else why not allow that?

My opinion is this. If I'm in my hut alone or with a family member following all protocols there is nothing wrong. As far as I know. Nobody has said we cannot go out as long as physical distancing is observed. Having said all that, I am local. Traveling from one region to another does raise some ethical questions.

Ethics are all based on culture and personal opinion which have no place in a system with rules for the masses. For example if my opinion differs from yours and you are doing something well within the legal boundaries without looking for loopholes... Who am I to tell you any contrary opinion to yours. If we have rules and guidelines and you are following them then who am I or anybody to be upset because things aren't being done the way I like them to be done and vice versa. No one is saying not to live your lives but rather for the moment lets all try and stick to the same plan ... adjust what we do... There might be better plans out there, there are certainly worse ones but I would rather have one mediocre idea than a hundred great ones bouncing off each other. If we were to all follow the guidelines then we should all get through this with a little bit of sacrifice and unity, leaving the opinions out of it...

Ethics, so there is the law and there are ethics... In my humble opinion, the law is there to enforce ethics to stupid people!
So here is a scenario. My buddy and I have been in isolation (following the law) since the beginning. Both have families and protect ourselves from being in close contact from others. We are 40+ and show no symptoms of the virus. Why can't we go fishing together wearing a mask?
As far as traveling to differen places, WHO CARES is you are being responsible and take the right measures. Someone coming from Toronto (or any other place), goes straight on the lake and once done goes straight back home, what harm is that to anyone?
Again, I just feel that the laws are based around stupid people...
Just my 2 cents which don't exist anymore lol

Agree.
I have had 5 Covid Tests and My Wife is not very strong probably would pass away from Covid so I am the most careful person you are going to run into. So me with my son who lives with me wanna fish and we stay away from everyone ( trust me they will get told to stay away accept Ministry of course) . The rules say I cannot drive up to the Lake.
I am not interested in getting fined so I will probably not bother this year.
So agree those of us who follow rules are getting over run by idiots. I mean the airports are still flying folks everywhere.
Some snow birds are sending their cars south in containers with all the stuff they need to get back to Florida, then taking choppers over the border to the U.S.
What will happen when the armies of U.S fisherman wanna fish?
I am hoping they come up with some solid rules I can follow. I mean Orangeville is 25 Min away for me if not Simcoe why can't I go there.
So much room on the Ice no need to crowd each other and I think we can self enforce that.
All that parking money lost to the town.

Is there something I'm missing? Fishing and hunting are not affected as they are essential.... Driving is no offense in terms of covid... If a municipality wants to stop non-locals from using their launch to access a lake, that's a whole different story and purely up to them. Ontario is in a lockdown in terms of business.... Lake Simcoe or other lakes per se are not.

What I'm saying is if a hut is considered a temporary shelter, would you be fined if you were fishing with a trusted friend? X

Ah, I see......well leaving my opinion out of it.....at this time, if there happened to be a by-law officer on the ice and you were with-in 6 feet of each other, without face coverings and did not live in the same household then the officer could and would have the right to ticket you for going against public safety. At risk of sounding like a dick but I was sure that at this stage we all new this...

Nope, makes perfect sense! How about giving your friend a ride out on your atv/UTV? Would that be considered unlawful? General question that is...
