You know this time I have to agree with the guy from the blue ice report. Chip away at this rock by going the route of blocking access to people in wheel chairs. I don't think the town counsel would be willing to go against Ontario legislation. Here's a link I found after a short 5 minute search. Below that, I pasted an articular that I found on a link from that page. Dan. AccessibilityUnderstand your rights Discrimination The Ontario Human Rights Code addresses discrimination. I'd say fight fire with fire , the days of trying to be respectful to the town are over , they the town don't give a fk about us , then fk them to , move the rock and see what happened next , still think it's personal .

Okay, not sure here, but this is where Cooks Bay Marina should step in, and let the ATV/Sled use the launch to access the lake for a small contribution. It is their property so the council can't say NO. Even accessing the lake via the marina walking you're not that far south of the road access, again giving a small contribution to the marina for allowing the access via the property. They take a small contribution in the spring for fishing off the docks for crappie, so why don't they do some winter business too, its a "Golden" opportunity the way I see it.

Cook's Bay Marina doesn't need to do a thing. Gilford Rd. has been closed to sleds and ATV's. The machines only need to go 327 to find free access but they are to lazy and or stupid to do so. Now the walkers pay because idiots with machines won't drive 327 meters!! There is ZERO need to have 2 accesses within 327 meters for vehicles to destroy!!!

Anyone have access to a backhoe? Park the rock in pump guys driveway. I think thats a great idea. Not to mention, another rock at the Councillor place who signed off to have it done, along with a nice warm load of manure lol. This is a total lack of disrespect shown not only to the fishermen & women but also to the people who simply choose to access the lake for activities other than fishing. On a few of the other forums out there Ive noticed a few people commenting (who I assume are new homeowners in the area). They've mentioned garbage being left behind and cars blocking driveways, noise from sleds / ATV's in the area etc. Im sure they have something to do with this. Gilford seems like it wants to become another subdivision type area, full of people who simply want to call it "their little quiet & private street with private access to the lake" NOT HAPPENING !! THE LAKE IS EVERYONES TO USE & ENJOY REGARDLESS OF THEIR FINANCIAL STATUS, RACE OR CULTURE & WHERE THEY CURRENTLY RESIDE.

From my understanding, its illegal to block that access point. It is the same situation as if you buy a house that people have used for, i believe minimum of 20 yrs for a walkway, either to school or any other place. You are not aloud to block that access point to stop people from using the path. This point has been used for more than 20 yrs as access to the water.

Snowmobiles are always driving around there Saw where a guy got killed there years ago infront of Simcoe Bait and Tackle near Lefroy, hit a tractor cleaning snow that backed out onto the street. wasn't a good site. Even if it's the machine drivers that travel the streets there right or wrong, no one wants to see a kid person killed. That rock placed there in the dark covered in snow guy driving in from the lake thinking that was a open spot, not pretty. Accidents happen, we don't want someone to create one. Just glad it was removed and no one got hurt

It's very simple. Complete total idiots on machines using Gilford Rd access should just simply obey the new signs and drive 327 meters to use the 89 access. Complete total idiots make a huge racket very early in the morning. Complete total idiots leave garbage all over. Complete total idiots cause the locals to complain. Complete total idiots are the ones who cause the problems for the 95% of ice fishermen who respect the lake and locals. 1 bad apple can spoil the bunch. 5 complete idiots out of 100 spoil our access, not the locals standing up for themselves and not the town who is doing their best to keep access open and the locals happy!!

Do we have any conservation officers on this board? It's my understanding from reading the regulations that the city is violating section 13 of the fish and wildlife conservation act. Now the act specifies a person interfering however a person did place a rock to obstruct access.
13 (1) A person shall not interfere with lawful hunting, trapping or fishing by,
(a) tampering with traps, nets, bait, firearms or any other thing used for hunting, trapping or fishing;
(b) placing himself or herself in a position, for the purpose of interfering, that hinders or prevents hunting, trapping or fishing; or
(c) engaging in an activity, for the purpose of interfering, that disturbs or is likely to disturb wildlife or fish.

Stupid for closing the access more dangerous for riders as they have to travel further on street to access the lake.

Those of you who will now use the access at the end of 89 please be aware that there is a current that flows out of Kon Tiki Marina channel and the ice may be unpredictable there.

Good evening robg (as I remember you do live here too)and to those posting on this site, I am Rob Nicol the Councillor for Gilford and the south end of Innisfil. To start, Officially, I will always respond to direct emails or phone calls but, I rarely check any message boards although occasionally I do and after reading the rhetoric here I thought I would respond at least to weigh in and provide some clarity and common sense on lake access in Gilford. The town has gone through an extensive parks master plan and has identified recommendations for every road end in Innisfil to help provide access as well as to direct usages. So, yes I did fight to start this process here locally by converting Gilford Road to a full park area which has historically been a local beach access as well as to restrict motorized vehicles. Absolutely no town parks permit motorized vehicles. Conversely, Shore Aces Drive/hwy89 has been enhanced to provide better access including a new 60 foot dock to be installed this spring to help with launching and loading boats along with the paved parking lot just east to provide easy storage. The rock was installed by the town to stop those who didn't respect the town's bylaws and continued to sneak their atvs and sleds through which as I read, was recommended by peter (who doesn't even live here anymore but, does continue to incite the riot). In responding to concerns that I brought to staff from locals and tourists, the town has moved the rock so as not to deter the law abiding anglers who just want to walk through to enjoy their day. Gilford Road access will continue to be a pedestrian access and all motorized traffic is directed to Shore Acres just a few hundred meters north. I hope this helps and if you have any other concerns, please let me know through regular channels. Thanks and remember to treat our locals as you would your own friends or neighbors and please try to enjoy the season because it doesn't last very long... Thanks Rob

Incite the riot Rob ? well the rocks gone so looks like what you call inciting a riot , I call the power of the internet , however i have to ask you , who made you king ? The end of Gilford Rd is not a park , its the end of the road an will allways be that . the Parks on IBR and has all the amanites that a park would have , including washrooms . Rob you dropped the ball when you had the gate replaced with the posts ,you made life diffacult for first responders should thy need to access Cooks Bay from the end of Gilford Rd , at least the gate was open during the winter , now well i hope thy will never be called to this area , i also feel your taking advantage of visiters that are looking for a place to park that doesent cost a arm an a leg , well guess what Rob ? parking at the shore Acers parking lot costs an arm an a leg , why not reduce the rate ?? You know the cbfb is the biggest promotor Of Innisfil yet you and the town feel the need to take advantage of visiters that want to spend the day on the ice or on the water . Rob let me help you by you helping me , drop the cost of daily parking so i can help fill it up .
Happy new year . Peter

The pump man's name is Arnoldo Maciel. He is a convicted drug trafficker. No kidding. Google his name tagged Ontario courts. His aliases are Rolando, Arnold, Renaldo, girl thingy man and Arrnie. He is a small little man, tattooed head to toe and on steroids with a small dick. His trailer park wife is reading this post to him because Arnoldo is illiterate. The guy is a Portuguese immigrant that made his coin selling cocaine to our children. The pump man enjoys the drama he causes by sabotaging the shoreline at the end of Gilford Rd and complaining to the town about everything. Him and his two cohorts, the pervert Old man Gage and the drunk Jack also call the police on a regular bases. Soon, someone will get hurt, I told the police who came to my door many times because of them. The pump man has assaulted old ladies I saw him do it and uses his knife to puncture ties. I saw him do that too. Yes Arnoldo only works at night to disrupt your fishing experience and yes he has a Bobcat. Supposedly, Arnoldo is afraid of the CBFB and I'm sure he will call the cops again because of this post. What a girl thingy. Next door to the pump man is the Spinster, Arnoldo's girlfriend. Her name is Laurie, over 50, homely looking. She runs around with a video camera looking for action then calls the cops if you look at her funny. Stay away from her. She is crazy. As to Counselor Rob Nicole. He told me. "Ice fishing guys do not pay taxes" so forget about him. Arnoldo gives him money too. The last player is Jack the local drunk. He is Arnoldos pregnant dog. He hangs around the shoe line and reports to Arnoldo as a stooge. He is drunk at 7:00am and will call the police if he doesn't like you. Jack runs a competing website and will do anything to get noticed. Call him a drunk when you see him and tell him to go home. So, what does all this mean. Gentlemen, the town only responds to complaints from tax payers, So you don't have a chance with them. I recommend civil disobedience. Knock down the barricades. Push the Bolders out of the way. Stand in front of the pump mans house and call him a girl thingy. Remember, he does not own the shore line, the Ice or the lake so said the cops to me. In conclusion, keep up the pressure. People have been ice fishing at the end of Gilford Road for 150 years and you are going to let a little girl thingy like the pump man stop you. No. Civil disobedience and Civil mischief still works. Give it a try and remember. Arnoldo the pump man works after dark. Wait for him. P.S. He has cameras. So what. Remember the night.
