Just returned from ice fishing east of Algonquin Park. There was 12 inches of ice. One hit but no fish to bring home. Just nice to get out on hard water. Was a sunny 0 degree day.

So this is the scoop , were making ice but not like we like this year becouse of the weather , the ice out there is closing in slowly , meaning theres areas with ice in the bays with open water in the main lakes and rivers , this means ice fishing is not safe right now , that being said , in some areas of Ontario there ice fishing .

looks to be frozen past Leroy. Donny says 2.5 inches where he drilled a hole . today should help a lot with the cold temps but tomorrow and Saturday doesn't look like good ice making temps. Probably by next weekend should be good but you never know, every year you get the nuts going out early I could see guy going this weekend. were only a few weeks behind from last year so another week or 2 isn't that bad. I've been ice fishing on cooks for 13 years and I consider it lucky if were ice fishing xmas week.

Today im reading the warm weather from the last couple days is gone , if thats the case , there will be lots of ice fisherman out there this weekend , even with open water out in some areas , big lake needs to close up before the cbfb gives the all clear . in the mean time if your going to give it a go , dont go alone , have all the safty gear ready to be used if you happen to need it .

Thinking about heading out tomorrow (Monday) morning Is the ice accessible from Gilford? It’s accessible but only 2.5-3.5” of ice, if you don’t have a spud bar and a floater suit and someone else to go with you I would stick to couchiching until this coming weekend at least

Peter's exact words. He has this running across the top of the page!! "If it all works out, Monday Jan 14 2019 will be good for ice fishing on Cook's bay" That means for today the ice report is the ice is not yet safe!!!
