Im just coming up with some ideas but here is the concept for the frame that will be constructed with your guys help , first thing , do you think the concept will work? The skis you see i have kicking around from two old snowmobiles , i saved them just for this occasion as i new id be doing this . For the base 3/4 angle iron so it can be fitted with 3/4 ply for the floor . 5ft wide 12ft long . Are there any welders out there that can hook me up ?

For the ribs im thinking 1/4 x 1 flat iron tacked to the base frame . plastic or fabric will cover the ribs for a neat looking sled .

Not sure if this will work, the area in red ,looks like the skis might rip off with any sideways forces . hmm

Or someone to weld it??? I'd be happy to do it!! Gimme the plans on how you want it welded, and I'll get on it! Be glad to..... IM me, if that's the case.

You would need the skis wayyyy out from the center of the "carrier" to give you that needed lateral support. Like a wide tracker"....

Your looking at a typical ski , the red is were will need to tac down reinforcement , same with the arm , will add two so this way nothing is going to rip off the ski with any lateral movement .

Peter. Take a look at hay wagons. They have been used for a couple centuries or more to haul very heavy loads. And pivoting the front skis is the way you want to go. Need tie rods to do this. Take a look at this link for tons of photos and also google hay wagons. Hay WagonI know these use wheels, but same idea. And the springs on the sled skis have a weight limit. Figure 2 skis are (roughly) able to carry 1/2 the weight of a sled and 2 people. Maybe 500-600 pounds total. So 2 pairs of skis and the leaf springs they use could maybe handle 1000-1200 lbs. Food for thought. Good luck partner. Mac
